Maybe you’ve only heard of microneedling, or perhaps you’ve experienced it. Wherever you are in your aesthetics journey, we want to introduce an upgrade to your traditional treatments: radiofrequency (RF) microneedling.
Ben Shatil, DO, Allison Santhouse, PA-C, and our team of experts at YS Aesthetics proudly offer our patients the best, most advanced services. Here, we give you the skinny on this revolutionary reform to the ever-popular microneedling treatments.
There’s nothing wrong with traditional microneedling treatments, and they’re still an incredibly effective, minimally invasive option. However, many of our patients are in the market for treatments that take their results to the next level.
Enter RF microneedling.
It’s still the microneedling treatments you know and love, but with an added boost. We again puncture your skin with tiny needles to create micro-injuries in your skin, but this time, there’s an extra step.
As the needles prick your skin, the device releases powerful but gentle radio frequency waves into your skin.
The result is even more collagen production, faster healing, and more dramatic results. Bonus: You may not need as many treatments when you opt for RF microneedling as compared to traditional microneedling.
RF microneedling and traditional microneedling address similar skin concerns. Our RF microneedling patients typically see us for the common signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, dull skin, and the like. We can also use RF microneedling to:
Some of our patients receive RF microneedling treatments in conjunction with platelet-rich plasma or platelet-rich fibrin to improve hair loss and thinning.
Chances are you’re a candidate for RF microneedling. Those who aren’t eligible for RF microneedling (or most other aesthetic treatments, for that matter) are:
If you have a history of psoriasis, keloids, hypertrophic scarring, or poor wound healing, we’ll discuss other options for treatment.
RF microneedling doesn’t take extra time or come with any additional risk of side effects. Most RF microneedling sessions last 20-40 minutes, and other than a prickling sensation followed by a gradual warmth from the RF energy, you shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort.
You’re free to leave our office and resume your regular activities after your treatment, but you should expect some bruising, swelling, and tenderness for a few days.
After a few weeks, your skin becomes firmer, smoother, and healthier as the collagen and elastin form below the surface.
We recommend several sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to reach your desired results. If you want to rejuvenate your look in other ways, talk to us about combining RF microneedling with dermal fillers and neuromodulators.
